A long and scenic drive from Kathmandu ends in about eight hours later at Dhunche where your camp for the first night will be set up at near the village. Trek through Rhododendron, birch forests to the Tamang villages of Barkhu, Syabrubesi and into the Langtang valley. Gaining elevation steadily, you will arrive at the village of Kyanjin Gompa and explore the Langshisha Glacier and return to Syabru. The diversion to Kyanjin Gompa, subsequent high altitude trek, will help to acclimatize your body. You will be in a better position to make the steep trek up to Gosaikund Lake at 4380 m. via Sing Gompa at 10,660ft (3250m). Gosaikund and its surrounding Lakes are of immense importance to the Hindus and is the site of a major religious festival which is held during August every year. The Hindu God, Shiva, is said to have created this lake to quench his thirst after consuming poison. From Gosaikund Lake, you will climb further to the Laurebina Pass at 15,120ft (4610m). and then heading in a general south-easterly direction through the villages of Ghopte, Tharepati, Melamchi Gaon, Tarke Ghyang and Mahankal to Sundarijal.From Sundarijal, you will drive back to Kathmandu.
