This 12 days trek is one of the best treks in the Everest region. Much of the trek takes place at moderate to high altitudes, venturing through rich Buddhist villages, red birch and dwarf rhododendron forests. A highlight of this trek is the walk to the sacred lakes of Gokyo including a steep climb to the top of Gokyo Ri to witness the most comprehensive and impressive views of the Himalayas. Gokyo Ri allows you to look down on the vast Ngozumpa Glacier and have outstanding views of Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu and Makalu, four of the world's ten highest peaks. The return route to Namche Bazaar will be via the Sherpa villages of Phortse and the great Tengboche Monastery. |
